1. All systems: the simplest way

You will have to install CPAN Minus (cpanm) first. Then:

$ sudo cpanm -n Metabrik Metabrik::Repository
$ metabrik.sh
use brik::tool
run brik::tool update

You may optionally install all dependencies.
WARNING: it takes some time.

run brik::tool install_all_need_packages
run brik::tool install_all_require_modules

Alternatively, you can install dependencies on a per-Brik basis like:

run brik::tool install client::www

2. Other method to stay up-to-date

For Ubuntu/Debian only:

# apt-get install -y build-essential sudo less cpanminus nvi iputils-ping mercurial libreadline-dev

For CentOS only:

# yum install -y perl-App-cpanminus readline-devel gcc less mercurial
# cpanm -n Test::More Env

For FreeBSD only:

# pkg install p5-App-cpanminus p5-Lexical-Persistence p5-PPI p5-Term-ReadLine-Gnu p5-Sub-Identify

For Windows 10 Linux subsystem only:

# sudo vi  `perl -MConfig -e'CORE::say $INC{"Config.pm"}'`
-dont_use_nlink => undef,
+dont_use_nlink => 1,
# cpanm -n Metabrik Metabrik::Repository

If you installed Perl modules before editing the Config.pm, you probably messed your system. You have to deinstall/reinstall the Linux subsystem using the following command lines:

lxrun /uninstall /full
lxrun /install

For all systems:

Perl modules:

# cpanm -n Lexical::Persistence PPI Term::ReadLine::Gnu Class::Gomor Data::Dump File::Find Term::ANSIColor Module::Reload Exporter::Tiny File::HomeDir IO::All Term::Shell IPC::Run3

Clone Mercurial repositories:

$ mkdir ~/metabrik
$ hg clone https://www.metabrik.org/hg/core ~/metabrik/core
$ hg clone https://www.metabrik.org/hg/repository ~/metabrik/repository

Build and install the modules:

$ cd ~/metabrik/core
$ perl Build.PL
$ sudo ./Build install

$ cd ~/metabrik/repository
$ perl Build.PL
$ sudo ./Build install

Run and enjoy

$ metabrik.sh
use brik::tool
run brik::tool update
run brik::tool install_all_need_packages
run brik::tool install_all_require_modules

Mac OS X specifics

Install Xcode/MacPorts

Follow https://www.macports.org/install.php .

Install required packages with MacPorts

# port install readline p5-net-pcap p5-app-cpanminus libdnet mercurial

Set environnement variables

For bash shell

Replace 5.16.3 with your Perl version.

$ export PERL5LIB=$PERL5LIB:/opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.16.3/darwin-thread-multi-2level
